Modernizing Bakery Operations With Digital Technology

San Diego-based development firm Bitcot has completed a centralized management platform for Julian Pie, a bakery operation running three counters, reducing order processing time by 30 percent. The platform replaces what was previously a manual system spread across spreadsheets and phone coordination. Inventory now updates in real time across all three locations, with separate tracking for merged and non-merged wholesale and FedEx orders. Production orders generate automatically based on sales estimates rather than manual forecasting. The system also introduces role-based access controls determining what staff can view and edit, along with built-in notes allowing bakers and counter staff to communicate directly within the platform. According to Bitcot, the change has improved demand forecasting accuracy and reduced the administrative hours previously spent on manual coordination each week. The platform was built using PHP/Laravel for the backend and VueJS for real-time frontend tracking. Full details of the build are outlined in Bitcot\'s case study on the Julian Pie bakery management system.
