Miyawaki Forest in Mangalore

The Miyawaki Forest in Mangalore is a vibrant, dense urban forest created using the Japanese Miyawaki method. Planted in a compact area (around 78 cents near Labor Dept gate to Padavu bus stand), it features over 2,000 native Western Ghats species—wild mango, jackfruit, sandalwood, banyan, and more. This pocket forest grows rapidly (saplings now standing 10–15 ft tall), boosting biodiversity, cooling urban heat islands, cleaning air, conserving water, and engaging local communities in bringing green life back to the city
