Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a popular team sport played with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team's goal. Players use their feet to kick the ball, but they can also use any other part of their body except their hands and arms. The goalkeeper is the only player allowed to handle the ball within a specified area around the goal. Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game and is played at both amateur and professional levels worldwide.
