Chennai MRTS Update | Velachery to St Thomas Mount Train Opens
The newly operational stretch improves Chennai’s transport network by connecting the Velachery MRTS terminal with St. Thomas Mount, an important transit point. This connection allows passengers to easily switch between MRTS services, Chennai Metro, and suburban trains, making daily commuting smoother and more efficient. Before opening the route to the public, the line underwent safety inspections and high-speed trial runs conducted by the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) team from Delhi to confirm that the corridor met all safety and operational requirements.
