How It Works (Cryogenic Air Separation) Atmospheric air is compressed, cooled, purified through molecular sieves, and passed through heat exchangers. A portion flows through an expansion engine to generate refrigeration. Liquefied air then enters distillation columns for separation, where oxygen and nitrogen split based on boiling points. Waste nitrogen and product oxygen are routed through heat exchangers for energy recovery before final delivery or cylinder filling.
